One thing all golfers have in common is a desire to hit the ball further with players like Bryson DeChambeau demonstrating that power is the new king of golf. With added speed, your longer drives result in shorter approach shots, which has been shown by analytics to reduce your scores significantly.

Whilst you can mimic the results DeChambeau achieved by hitting the gym and developing speed through weightlifting, this is not the only solution. The Golf Swing Systems speed training section has been growing massively lately with new methods to gain speed becoming more and more prevalent. To help you decipher which of these methods will suit you best we have put together a top 5 list for the most effective training aids of the market.

1) TheStack System

TheStack System has the ultimate testimonial on its side. Having used newfound speed and power to win the 2022 US Open, Matt Fitzpatrick revealed the secret to his massive distance gains was TheStack System. Developed by Dr. Sasho Mackenzie, the secret formula to TheStack Systems bespoke programming is called Variable Inertia Speed Training. Using this programme, you can biohack your body into unlocking maximum speed in the most efficient way possible. According to Chris Como, Golf Monthly #2 coach, “TheStack is by far the best speed training system on the market”.

Recently TheStack System got even better with its new integration with the FlightScope Mevo+. This integration now offers a fully seamless training experience where you can go directly from hitting balls on the FlightScope range, straight into your speed training with TheStack. Using Fusion Tracking Technology, the Mevo+ is able to provide pinpoint speed numbers for your training, meaning your personalised training is as accurate as possible.

2) The GolfForever Swing Trainer

What do you need for speed? The first thing when answering this question should always be a strong and healthy back. You need the ability to rotate and explode in an efficient and healthy manor without hurting yourself, otherwise you will hit one massive drive and then limp back to the car park! GolfForever is this is the safest and most direct route to gaining speed and fluidity in your golf swing, whilst developing mobility and strength.

Used by World Number 1 Scotty Scheffler, the GolfForever programming has been developed in partnership with PGA Tour Doctors and Trainers to develop strength in the large muscles that drive the golf swing. Using resistance training in combination with a weighted swing aid, you can also use the GolfForever as a priming tool before your rounds to get your body prepped for fast, explosive swings on the first tee.

3)  Power Swing Power Fan

Sometimes simpler is better. The Power Swing fan uses 4-fins to develop progressive air resistance throughout the golf swing, priming your body to swing faster than ever when this resistance is removed. Training with additional resistance teaches you to accelerate throughout your down swing to generate max power and speed at the ball.  The natural air resistance from the fins will encourage the player to follow the path of least resistance, in turn building a solid, powerful foundation.

Since this golf swing power trainer has the benefit of increasing strength, you want to break down your muscles and allow them to rebuild. You can swing very aggressively, and a typical workout routine might be to start with 2 sets of 25 reps swinging at about 70% effort. After a week build to 3 sets of 30 reps and you can start firing harder through impact. We also suggest swinging left-handed for a set so you don’t overbuild one side of your body.

4) The Orange Whip

One of the keys to developing speed in the golf swing is tempo and balance. Using a patented counter balancing system, you are forced to generate lag and tempo in your swing which in turn increases your potential for speed. This training aid really works, which is why it has found itself into the bags of numerous tour pros and the training setup of World Long Drive champion Kyle Berkshire.

The proprietary flexible shaft coordinates the rhythm between your arms, upper body, and lower body. Swing over and over to develop your own tempo and balanced swing for consistent shots on the golf course. Warm-up and get loose and get ready to play or practice. Any wobble in your swing indicates a need to improve tempo, balance, and swing plane. Receive instant feedback that you can feel and correct with each swing.

5) The Twitch Trainer

Twitch Trainer allows you to use the same exact motion needed to hit the ball from tee to green. After all, the only way to hit the ball farther off the tee box or to carry a water hazard in front of a distant green is to swing the golf club faster. Of course, that is much easier said than done. Golf swing distance training using a Twitch Trainer can prepare your body to move significantly faster during your golf swing. Rather than pumping free weights in a gym, you are using a training aid that simulates the exact motions your body must perform on the course. Moreover, unlike adding a weight to the shaft of your club, The Twitch golf swing distance trainer creates a natural drag to reduce the chance of injury caused by an unnecessary pull on your joints and spine.
